Letters for a Lover
THE PROFUNDITY OF MY PATERNAL GRANDPARENT’S WARTIME STORY
Since the last entry to this thread, It’s been a long time in contemplation, reflecting on journeys of shared lived experience. When we lose an significant other along the way without answers for their disappearance, emotions are mixed and unrequited.
I’m interested in tapping into these feelings investigating them visually through a multidisciplinary artistic approach. My methodology is increasingly nuanced these days, with the use of sculpture in different mediums, reflecting a visceral response from the inception of the work. It evolves through a series of processes of other 2D processes to extract an ethereal response for the viewer.
In essence I want the multi medium approach to bring us empathetically to the unravelling narrative and sometimes this process may not necessarily manifest beauty, and may provoke other responses and questioning our humanity.
My grandfather’s war time disappearance has been my focus for the past 10 months, and I have documented it on my socials especially instagram, where I have produced ten sculptures and to date, 9 digital works for a show in November at Stella downer Fine Art gallery in Sydney.

Letters for a lover is my latest body of work in progress. I ‘m researching ways to visually tell a love story, using a multidisciplinary artist methodology. These are my musings about my muse, my wife Vicki White. Poems, sculptures, digital paintings and oils. The aesthetic will take care of itself. I’ll post here as I expand my practice and hopefully express universally, a true depth of admiration for the person I dearly love.
I have posted all my poems on instagram #Lettersforalover
check them out, it is the beginning of a journey to define a narrative with visual clues. and if you have a love story to add to this blog id love to hear your journey. I don’t mind connecting through positive stories, I t allows us all to grow and find Hope.
I’m Finding that life has it’s process of recalling memories from the pass and presnt and through entropy (randomness) we can find the other real ingredient to living a future contented in an existential existence and that is Anticipation.
This thesis will be my primary focus for now. Stay tuned.
