My practice revolves around researching the Materiality of the digital painting tools on the iPad Pro and the PROCREATE app amongst others. The digital stylus or Apple pen allows me to explore, extend, extrapolate an painting inquiry, combining and juxtaposing the traditional with a new modality of the digital image.

I also use an Epson archival digital printer with canvas and archival rag paper to output my work, and work back into it with paints, the additive process of my practise produces serendipitous moments with materiality, and imagery revealed. I look for the beauty that appears with combining oil paint, pixel painting, photography, timebases animation, plasticine sculpture, with a firm understanding of a “Markers” methodology. The images have a mysterious construction. I expect to be surprised by the final results and trust in my methodology and the attention to detail and technical knowledge acquired over many years pushing new materials to perform further.

I am experimenting with the use of the different techniques to output an image that is painting with the new tools of 2021, and uniquely relies on new found processes.
