The Invigilator’s Diary
These are some cartoon ideas scribbled in my mind, while I spend time as a gallery host at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. DO HO SUH’s Work is on show since the first week of November 2022. His works are so delightfully delicate, colourful and thought provoking, evoking notions of home, particularly to someone who lived and works in different city’s, with a dedication that is heartfelt and all consuming. A truely impressive Contemporary Artist allowing me to contemplate and muse over interactions with visitors who have come to appreciate his meticulous Oeuvre.

Over the last two months, I have worked in the MCA gallery hosting. It is an interesting way to interact with the art public who pop in for an afternoon to enrich their soul. We get many and varied questions on the Artist’s practice not surprisingly due to it’s astonishingly meticulous aesthetic. He has dedicated many hours producing meaningful art, based on home and memory.
I can’t help seeing the funny side of the job though. Thesedrawings are some little anecdotes which have come to mind to scribble down. Again I too like record what I see and feel in the moment. Hope to see you in the gallery were time stands still, and yet the last two months have brought me closer to Xmas without really realising that the festive season in Sydney had begun.
